Dual boot Windows Vista and XP Disconnecting one USB device would stop other devices
May 22

After researching this problem for a day, I have come to the conclusion that there’s no one-and-for-all solution. Some people have luck with a certain setting while some other users do not gain anything from that same setting. However a hotfix works for both of my computers - a Pentium Celeron desktop and a Dell Core Duo laptop. The hotfix is available here.

I have tried every possible configuration including the new “request only” patch from MS.

What did work for me was tweaking my NIC settings.

I have an onboard Marvel Yukon Gig-E and i changed these settings:
    Energy Star - Disabled
    Jumbo Packet - 4088
Max IRQ per Sec - 10000
    Priority & VLAN - Disabled
    Receive Buffers - 512
    Transmit Buffers - 512

This netted me a change in copy speeds from 2mb\s to 11mb\s. Still not fantastic, but better than nothing.
